Some Things Need to be Perfect

There is a funny story I like about a businessman who flew from Chicago to sunny Miami. His wife was scheduled to fly down and meet him the next day. As he was checking in the hotel, he used the lobby computer to send an email to his wife to let her know he had arrived. He tried to remember his wife’s email address, but got one of the letters wrong. Instead of sending it to his wife, he accidentally sent it to a pastor’s wife in Kentucky, whose husband had died a few weeks before. When she read the email, she passed out. The email said, “Hello Dear, I just got checked in. Everything is prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Your loving husband. P.S. It sure is hot down here!”

Some things in life, like email addresses, have to be done perfectly. If you miss one letter or character, it will not go to the correct recipient. If you do not enter the address perfectly, it will not work.

Fortunately, concerning your salvation and where you will spend eternity, Jesus has handled everything Himself and done so perfectly. If you have repented of your sin and you are trusting Jesus to be your Savior, then you can be confident that this salvation is yours indeed! “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Jesus made all the arrangements. Your home in Heaven is guaranteed! Your salvation from conception to completion is as good as done. Your relationship with God from here to eternity is assured. Rejoice today in the perfect, completed work of Christ! In the meantime—

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith...” (Hebrews 12:2).

Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
