I’ve enjoyed sharing with you GOD’S MANUAL FOR FACING TROUBLES, our series on the life of Job. As sojourners with Job in suffering, we have learned:
We may not have—
· Answers to our questions,
· Relief from our problems,
· Support from our friends, or
· Victory over our enemies.
But, we can still know—
· God is ever in control,
· We are never out of His sight,
· We can always trust in His love, and
· He will validate us in the end!
So we must: TRUST GOD ANYWAY!
There is a story I like which reminds us to “Have Faith in God” (Mark 11:22) no matter what—
A young man spent a long day behind his cubicle at work and was now ready to go home and relax. As he made his way to the elevator, he heard cries of panic and looked down the hallway to see black smoke billowing toward him. A sense of panic seized hold of him as he processed the thought of being stuck on the 6th floor of this office building with his only escape route—the hallway—blocked with fire and impossible to pass by. As his mind continued to race, he heard the fire engine sirens below and remembered his office was lined with tall windows all across the floor. He coughed as he quickly worked his way to one of the windows and opened it. As he looked down, all he could see was a blanket of smoke beneath him. But he could hear below a crowd of people which had gathered and, along with the firemen, were hollering, “Jump! Jump!” The young man felt a cloud of fear envelop him. Then, over a loud speaker, he heard the voice of one he presumed to be a fireman say, “The only way to survive is to jump.” We have spread a safety net. You’ll be perfectly safe!”
As the crowd continued to yell, the man was overcome with panic as he realized he could not muster the courage to leap without seeing the safety net below him. His feet would not move, as though stuck to the office floor. But, then, he heard a familiar voice—the voice of his dad—speaking assuredly through the loud speaker, “It’s okay, son, you can jump!” As the comforting voice of his father reached deep into the heart of this young man, he felt the grip of fear released. The trust and love, which he had come to know with his father, gave him the courage to take the leap of faith safely into the net. Moreover, his dad was right—it was okay!
Will you trust the Heavenly Father’s love that much?
Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
