GPS, Trust In This

One morning this week, as I leaving the house to come to church, I received a message from one of my colleagues that the main road was blocked and traffic was being detoured. When I entered my car, I used Maps (GPS) to find an alternative route that brought me to church almost as quickly as would have been the case had there been no traffic issue. I was thankful for this inside info since I am not a patient man when it comes to traffic jams. You already know this about me…

Fortunately, as believers, we all have access to inside info in choosing the best roads to take so that we might move forward in life in the best ways possible. Scripture promises, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6). This is GPS – God’s Positioning System!

The word “acknowledge” means “to recognize” and the phrase “in all your ways” means “in every area of your life.”  So—In every area of your life acknowledge Him as Lord and seek to recognize His will for your life.

If we do so, then the Word of God promises, “He will direct your paths.” Moreover, not just here, but elsewhere. For example, the Bible says, “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs…and will strengthen your frame” (Isaiah 58:11). God says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you” (Psalm 32:8).

Practically, how does God do so? Through—

Scripture—“Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Spirit—“We have received the (Holy) Spirit…that we may understand what God has freely given to us” (1 Corinthians 2:12).

Saints—“The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to (wise) advice” (Proverbs 12:15).

Situations—God closes doors and opens doors. For example, an angel opened the door for Peter to leave prison in Acts 12:5-11. Paul was kept out of Asia, and then led to Europe through a vision known as the Macedonian call in Acts 16:6-10.

Dear child of God, you too have inside info if you choose to follow. God promises to clear a path for you, remove obstacles before you, providentially direct you and even walk with you. Indeed, He will direct your paths! This is the ultimate GPS, trust in this!

Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
