The Fullness of Time Has Come

It’s December and it is now time for us to turn our thoughts to Christmas… Our Church Advent Season begins this Sunday, December 4, in worship. So let’s think about it today—

“When the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son” (Galatians 4:4).

That first Christmas was according to God’s time and plans! Destiny intercepted Mary and Joseph’s plans. Destiny intersected the shepherd’s steps that evening. Destiny brought together a band of angels, a brotherhood of shepherds, and a baby in the town of Bethlehem. Some things are meant to happen—and they do!

Hundreds of years earlier, the 8th century prophet Isaiah wrote under divine direction from the Spirit of God and regarding the coming (advent) of the Christ:

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned…for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:2, 6).

This is a long, descriptive name. Even further, it is a wonderful name. The name reveals His identity as the Son of God and His ministry as Savior and Lord. It speaks of God’s love and grace which reaches us by this Savior. It is a love we celebrate at Christmas. Nothing here is accidental—only providential! The unfolding of this plan came from the heart of God. It was purposed from His heart of Love. The Nativity was part of destiny! This truth of God’s intentional love we celebrate at Christmas joyfully! Amen!!

Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
