God-sized Help

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

I have always loved this verse for it tells us: God never will let us down, because He is ever-present in times of trouble. We need to know this since there will always be troubles. Jesus said as much…

Remember, the night before the crucifixion in the Upper Room, Jesus told His disciples three things about facing troubles in the future.

 # 1 – There will always be trouble.
“In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33).

# 2 – You will never be alone.
“I will never leave you...” (John 14:18).

# 3 – You could ever be at peace.
“My peace I leave with you” (John 14:27).

This serves to remind us that God will not keep us from the troubles, but He will keep us in the troubles and walk beside us through the troubles. This He promises!

 So, if you are:

Troubled – rest assured He is “an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Burdened – find comfort when He says, “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Depleted – embrace hope with the words, “And my God will meet all your needs...” (Philippians 4:19).
Feeling unloved – seek assurance here “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
Lacking answers – relax in the words, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God… (James 1:5).
Grief-stricken – receive solace in the shepherd’s words, “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death... you are with me” (Psalm 23:4).

The bottom line is this: whatever comes your way today, you are going to be okay. The reason? It is because your God is an ever-present help in your moment of trouble and He will never let you down!

Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
