Open Your Eyes

This past Sunday I shared a message from the Gospel of John on the Story of the Woman at the Well. The most amazing thing about this story is that God used the most unlikely person in the story to bring many people (perhaps hundreds) to a relationship with Jesus. In Jesus’ encounter with the Woman at the Well, He offered her living water so she would never thirst again. She was moved by what he said and she believed in Him for eternal life. So then John tells us, “Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, ‘Come see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?’” (John 4:28-29).

This woman already had relationships with people in her city. In fact, she probably had too many relationships! But when Jesus changed her life, those are the people she went to and said, “Come see the man who changed me.”

We should learn from this woman. As we think about introducing people to Jesus, we should begin by looking at the opportunities God has already given us—the people we already know. Jesus told His disciples, “Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest” (v. 35). When they looked up, what did they see? They saw this woman leading a group of people toward the well to meet Jesus. Will you lift up your eyes to see the people around you in South Florida who need Jesus?

Let me remind you that on Sunday, October 19, at FBC Pompano we have our second annual Welcome Home Day. There will be refreshments, welcome bags for guests, fun things for children and families, and lots of opportunity to show the love of God through the ministry of our 1st Pompano Family. I will be sharing an evangelistic message on Jesus as the Bread of Life from our MEET JESUS Series. I hope you will “open your eyes” and see whom you might invite on that Sunday. Let’s get excited about telling others about Jesus!

Devotedly yours,
Pastor Ron
